We all may have some inherent fear of death, but many people also fear living certain aspects of life as well. Perhaps this is why the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) have selected “Be Not Afraid” as the ‘exaltation’ for October (‘Respect Life Month’). We must resist the temptation to judge life as good or bad, and see that all life is inherently good but we have difficulty recognizing the goodness in some circumstances.
The USCCB publishes information in hopes of helping people recognize and respect life in all situations. Below are links to the 6 brochures from the USCCB. Over the next few weeks we will post articles from real people who I have asked to share their relevant experiences. I will also post a copy of the USCCB material annotated with my two cents. We are providing this material in hopes of inviting further reflection and discussion of the stuff we deal with daily in our lives. So visit this page in the coming weeks; pray about life, and “Be Not Afraid” to live it as the gift it is.
